!Viola's mother died when she was 4. She attended Brigham Young Acad emy. Her
father and stepmother lived in Pleasant Grove for a time, so that's h ow she met
Niels Fugal.
She lived with her father while Niels was on his mission and their da ughter,
Melba, was born there. Janeil wrote of her: "She was a wonderful mot her and
grandmother. She was a good cook. She made the best lemon pie an d a nut cake
with a brown sugar icing. She always had sugar cookies with a hole i n the
middle for the grandchildren. She didn't mind Niels' books and paper s stacked
on her dining room table. She had a cute sense of humor. She like d to knit
and sew and quilt. She was modest, quiet and reserved. She was pati ent and
caring. She would take the time to sit down and listen to grandchild ren, but
wouldn't give them advice. She was short and plump, with dark sparkl ing eyes.
She always wore a dress. Each Christmas she would pick out clothes or
something for their hope chest for each grandchild. (And she ha d a lot of
them!) She enjoyed travelling with her husband and toured much of th e United
States including Hawaii and also Europe. She was unpretentious and l iked her
home better than any other place.
Certificate of Death says the cause of death was Pneumonia with other
significant conditions contributing to death: hepatic, renal failure,
osterioscleastic heart disease.
