!The Americanized spelling for Hanna Carlsson is Hannah Carlson.

Hanna was also baptized in 1862 by Huarod Dahlquist (certificate in p ossession
of Vida Fugal Swenson.)

sailed from Liverpool 2 July 1873 on the ship "Wisconsin," arrived Ne w York 15
July 1873. Company continued by rail, arrived Salt Lake City 24 Jul y 1873.

Hannah was 5'3" tall, 185 lb. Blue-grey eyes, brown hair. Died of l iver
trouble.

Before converting to Mormonism at age 14, she belonged to the Luthera n Church.
She was baptized at age 16 and said it was so cold they had to cu t a hole in
the ice to baptize her. She said she did not feel cold at all, she w as so
happy. After joining the church she suffered a great deal of persecu tion with
friends turning against her. Her Minister of the Lutheran church tol d her
she was too nice of a girl to belong to such an awful church. She wa s self
educated, but could read in three languages and do arithmetic in he r head.
When she first married Andreas, they lived in a dugout. She spun an d wove her
own cloth. She was so expert at dyeing cloth that people would bring
materialfor her to color.
When she was 46 and her youngest child, Niels, was 8, she became a
widow. She was able to help keep two sons on missions to Norway an d Sweden.
She died at the age of 70.
